7 Ways To Make Your Home More Zen

Your space say’s a lot about you and can often times be a source of stress if you’re not careful. Research shows cluttered environments are a tied to higher levels of stress and depression, so why not make a change?

1.     Stick with neutrals or soft color pallets: When decorating it’s important to avoid “loud” colors that may invoke an emotional response. Try to stick like tones of beige, tan, and earthy greens – or, if you’re looking for a pop of color play with pastels to warm the place up!

2.   Bring the outdoors inside: Having plants indoors is not only grounding but it also helps purify the air inside your home! Some of my current favorites include: Snake plants, Birds Nest Fern, MonsteraDeliciosa, and Fig Tree’s.

3.   Get a Himalayan Salt LampNot only are salt lamps calming to the eyes, but they also have many health benefits! Benefits include: Balances electromagnetic radiation, calms allergies and reduces asthma, boost blood flow, raises energy levels, reduces stress and promote relaxation, improves sleep...do I need to go on?

4.   Keep you space clutter free: Avoid over decorating your space and focus on a minimalist approach. Less clutter = less stress. No one likes coming home to a room overflowing with “Stuff”. Spend a day and clear out anything that no longer serves. I promise it will be worth it.

5.   Calming Music: I truly love having light music on in the background when I’m home or working. I’m not talking about “Today’s Top Hits”, I’m referring to white noise or the sounds of the forest, or even the crackling sounds of a fireplace. There are so many YouTube accounts that create hours of calming music for you to play, check it out!

6.Crystals and Stones: Since I was little I found something calming about crystals. Over the years I’ve spent a lot of time studying them and their healing properties. A few of my favorites to have around my home include: AmethystBlack Tourmaline, Selenite, and Celestite

7. Sage: Burn baby burn! There is nothing better than cleansing your home. Sage and other holy herbs are used to cleanse a space or environment of negative energy, to generate wisdom and clarity, and to promote healing. Whether you believe it or not, don’t knock it till you try it. ;)
